The Final Verdict Has Come- Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh is Found Guilty of Rape
The circumstances in the states of Haryana and Punjab has abruptly become worse because CBI court of Panchkula held Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, the chief of Dera Sacha Sauda guilty of rape on August 25, Friday.
The case of rape dates back to the year 2002, and it is based entirely on the allegations of two ladies who used to serve Dera Sacha Sauda. According to them, they were sexually abused by the spiritual chief at the headquarters in Haryana’s Sirsa.
It was calculated that over lakh supporters assembled in Haryana. Security had been augmented in both states because large scale of violence broke out when the verdict has declared.
Believed as the spiritual leader, Ram Rahim and Dera Sacha Sauda, his organization commands absolute followers, particularly among the Dalit Sikhs.
Here is a brief story of how this case against Singh has opened in the course of long 15 years.
Allegations of Two Murders and Rape against Gurmeet Ram Rahim:
The rape charges against the leader of Dera Sacha Sauda date back to 2002 while a sadhvi who was also a part of this organization sent a letter to the Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee describing how the Ram Rahim raped her alongside numerous other sadhvis. She didn’t mention her name in that letter though.
A Hindustan Times report reveals the content of that letter in which it was clearly narrated how a sadhvi was commanded into the room of Ram Rahim one night. Singh possessed a gun and a blue film was running there. The lady said that she was sexually molested for long three years. She further added that 35-40 sadhvis had gone through the same every day.
The Haryana and Punjab High Court took the suo motu cognisance of that explosive note, and the matter was afterward submitted to the CBI in the month of September 2002. Investigation agency interrogated eighteen sadhvis and two of them raised charges of rape against Gurmeet Ram Rahim. And the shocking scene came when a sadhvi said that her sexual harassment was being vindicated on the grounds that this particular thing would clean and “purify” her.
Finally, Justice has Done:
Five years after the rape, the case had been lodged against spiritual leader. The trial against Singh started in 2008 where he was being charged under Section 506 (Criminal intimidation) and Section 376 (Rape) of IPC. But Ram Rahim himself and his blind followers denied the charges. Singh said that the charges were baseless and false as well. In the meantime, CBI court was being shifted from Ambala to Panchkula in 2011.
And now, after a decade, the case reached its culmination and the leader of Dera Sacha Sauda is convicted in a rape case and he is in the judicial custody.
